 Dress to Bless
Pockets of Dreams creates multiplied blessings for our little girls and for the world's poor. With your purchase, Pockets of Dreams gives away a new dress to an Ugandan girl or a grant to an Ugandan seamstress.
Our Story
The women who created Pockets of Dreams have a heart for children and women. Knowing that we cannot help every child ourselves, we seek to support other women so they, in turn, can help children in their homes and communities. We provide grants to women in developing countries to expand their own sewing businesses. Since our beginning in 2006, Pockets of Dreams dressed an entire school of girls in Uganda and given grants to seamstresses in Kampala, Uganda.
Why. . .
Why Girls?
We would love to help the whole world, but we have to start somewhere. Girls are often at greater risk for exploitation than boys in developing countries, so we start with girls.
Why Clothes?
Everyone needs clothes. A beautiful dress changes the way a girl feels and thinks about herself. New clothes - especially for a girl who has never had a new dress - can make a huge impact.
Why Seamstresses?
Sewing is a very natural home business in many cultures and it allows a woman to be close to her children while she works. Seamstresses are helped with grants to purchase new equipment and fabric to help end the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families.
